A Frigidaire oven not heating is usually a weak bake igniter on a gas range or a burned-out bake element on an electric one. Before you order either, set the clock. Frigidaire’s manuals say the oven won’t operate until the time of day is set.
Gas owners have one more job first. A 2026 recall covers 23 Frigidaire gas ranges, and the fix for those is a free repair, not a part you buy.
Frigidaire ranges were a regular stop on my service calls. I pull the tech sheet before I touch anything, and you’ll want the model and serial number handy too.
Why is my Frigidaire oven not heating?
Your Frigidaire oven isn’t heating because a setting is blocking it or a part has failed. The settings come first: an unset clock, Oven Lockout, a stored error code or a tripped breaker. The usual failed parts are the bake igniter on gas, the bake element on electric, and the control board on either.
Work through it in the order below. The first three steps cost you nothing.

Gas range? Look up the recall first
If you own a Frigidaire gas range bought between June 2025 and January 2026, find its serial number before you troubleshoot. The CPSC recall 26-333 covers serial numbers VF52200000 through VF54399999.
The CPSC says the ovens can have delayed ignition of the bake burner, a burn hazard. Electrolux and the CPSC had 62 reports, including 30 burn injuries, when the recall went out on March 19, 2026. About 174,800 ranges are covered in the US.
The recall spans Frigidaire, Gallery and Professional gas ranges across 23 models, including the FCRG3083AS, the GCRG3060BF and the PCFG3080AF. You’ll find the model and serial on a nameplate in the drawer beneath the oven.

If yours is listed:
- Stop using the oven. The CPSC says you can keep using the cooktop burners.
- Contact Electrolux at 866-291-7633 or GasOvenBurnerRecall.com.
- Don’t swap parts yourself. Electrolux installs a new bake burner in your home at no cost.
Not on the list? Carry on with the checks below.
The clock, the lock and the codes
Frigidaire builds a few gates into the control, and any one of them leaves your oven cold while the cooktop works. Go through them in this order.
Set the clock after a power outage
Frigidaire’s electric and gas range manuals both say the clock must be set before the oven will operate. After an install or a power outage, the display shows 12:00 flashing.
On the electric range in the manual, you press Clock, use the + and – keys to set the time, then press Clock again to save. Then try Bake.
If the oven quit the night the power went out, start here.

Oven Lockout and Sabbath mode
Oven Lockout disables the controls. On that electric range, a lock icon shows while it’s on, and you clear it by holding the Light and Clock keys together for 3 seconds. My page on a locked Frigidaire oven separates the lock from a door stuck after self-clean.
Sabbath mode is another quiet one. Frigidaire’s wall oven manual says that if the power fails while you’re using Sabbath mode, SF appears and the oven won’t turn back on by itself.
Clear an F or E code
Frigidaire’s electric range manual gives a set sequence for a beeping F or E code:
- Turn the oven mode and temperature knob to OFF, then try Bake.
- If the code comes back, turn off power to the range, wait 5 minutes and restore it.
- Set the clock again, because the outage cleared it.
- Try Bake or Broil once more. If the fault returns, turn the oven off and call for service.
Before any of that, make sure your range has power. Frigidaire says to check the fuse or breaker box. On an electric range the elements need 240 volts while the clock runs on 120, so a half-tripped breaker can leave the display lit and the oven cold.
Flip that breaker fully off, then on.
Frigidaire gas oven: broiler works but bake doesn’t
When a Frigidaire gas oven broils but won’t bake, the bake igniter is the first suspect. A weak igniter can glow without opening the gas valve, so the bake burner never lights while the broiler burner works.

Set Bake and watch the bottom burner through the floor vent. You’re looking for one of three things:
- Glow but no flame: a weak igniter.
- No glow at all: no power reaching the igniter, or the control.
- Lights once or twice, then quits as it heats: also the igniter, by one commenter’s account on r/Appliances.
On my calls, a Frigidaire gas oven that broiled but wouldn’t bake usually needed a bake igniter. An owner on r/appliancerepair described the same thing this year: stovetop and broiler fine, Bake dead. The igniter “glows but doesn’t ignite,” the owner wrote, and then came back with the result:
“Replaced the igniter and it fired right up. I appreciate you 😉”
– r/appliancerepair, August 2026
Before you pull anything, take out any foil lining the oven floor. Frigidaire’s gas range manual says foil there blocks air flow and can cause carbon monoxide poisoning.
Want to confirm a weak igniter with a meter? The amp-draw test is in my Whirlpool oven not heating walkthrough. Match your reading to your Frigidaire igniter’s own part rating, not the Whirlpool one.
Stop and call a pro if you smell gas, the igniter glows and you still get no flame after a new one, or your range is in the recall above. I’m not licensed for gas-line work, so I don’t touch gas valves.
Frigidaire electric oven not heating
Set Bake to 350°F and look at the lower element. A healthy one glows red while you watch. If yours stays dark, or you see a blister or a break in the coil, the element has burned out.
To confirm it, turn the breaker off, pull the wires off the element terminals and test across them with a multimeter. No reading means an open coil. My steps to replace an oven heating element walk you through the swap.
Some Frigidaire ranges, like the FGEF3055 below, hide the bake element under a smooth oven floor, so you can’t watch it glow. Test the broiler instead. If the broiler heats and Bake doesn’t, the hidden element is the likely part.
Neither element heats
If neither the broiler nor the bake element heats, you’re probably not looking at two parts failing on the same day. Look at what they share. An owner with a 13-year-old FGEF3055 had exactly that, top and hidden bottom element both cold, and a tech on r/appliancerepair put it this way:
“When both elements don’t work, the one thing in they have in common is the board.”
– r/appliancerepair, June 2026
Someone else in that thread pointed at the oven temperature sensor, the probe inside the oven held to the wall with 2 screws. You can reach it from inside the cavity, so it’s the easier part to rule out.
If the sensor checks out and the breaker is solid, the control board is a technician job.
Other questions about a Frigidaire oven not heating
How do I reset a Frigidaire oven after a power outage?
To reset a Frigidaire oven after a power outage, set the clock first, because Frigidaire’s manuals say the oven won’t run without it. If an F or E code shows, turn the oven off, cut power for 5 minutes, restore it, and set the clock again.
Why does my Frigidaire oven get warm but not hot?
A Frigidaire oven that gets warm but never hot usually has a weak igniter on gas or a failing element or sensor on electric. If it reaches temperature but bakes slightly cool, calibration helps. Frigidaire’s gas range manual allows an offset of up to 35°F either way.
That 35°F limit also means calibration can’t rescue an oven that never gets hot.
Where is the model number on a Frigidaire range?
On recalled Frigidaire gas ranges, the CPSC places the model and serial nameplate in the drawer beneath the oven. Pull the drawer out and look at the frame. You need both numbers for the recall lookup and for any parts order.
